My hometown of Tupelo, MS

Image
Tupelo, Ms          The place that I call home and was born and raised in is the city of Tupelo, Ms .Tupelo is most famous for being the Birthplace of Elvis Presley. It is also home to many other famous people such as the famous rap group called Rae Sremmurd and Dj Diplo. Some Professional athletes born in the City of Tupelo can include Bill Hall, Joe Horn, Brandon Woodruff, and Dusty Hughes, an old coach of mine.                                                          The city of Tupelo was incorporated in 1866. It is located in Northeast Ms and currently holds an estimated population of 38,300. It is the sixth largest city in Mississippi so that tells you where it stands size wise.It was the first city to receive power from the Tennessee Valley Authority, giving it the nickname “The First TVA City”. That is a huge accomplishment for a city in Mississippi.      One good thing about Tupelo is that it continues to grow over time. They are building new restaurants for it left and

Dj LaMahieu says he is 100% percent after avoiding foot surgery

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35695213/yankees-dj-lemahieu-avoided-surgery-says-foot-now-100 New York Yankees all star, DJ LeMahieu returns to Spring training and says that he is 100% after choosing not to have surgery on his right foot during the off season. Instead of having surgery , LeMahieu opted for a non-surgical recovery plan on the foot fracture that he had suffered last season. This foot fracture caused LeMahieu to miss the postseason, which is one of the most important times of the season. I'm certain this was a big let-down for the Yankee fans. However, since returning to Spring training in Tampa Bay, FL, DJ LeMahieu has stated that he feels 100% after avoiding surgery this past off season. With this being said, avoiding surgery may not have been a bad decision by LeMahieu and is something positive that has come out of this.  Hopefully, things remain good for LeMahieu’s physical health now and in the future. A healthy DJ LeMahieu is a scary DJ LeMahieu, and the

How Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in 1947 went

African American baseball player, by the name of Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier on April 15, 1947. This day in MLB history marked a pivotal moment in the segregation of the MLB and would change the MLB forever. This wasn’t any ordinary task and Jackie Robinson seemed to be the guy for the job. According to “Is Racism Alive and Well in Major League Baseball” it says, “Rickey made Jackie swear that he would not react to the expected criticism and hate. He wanted a player who could win over the hate with his professionalism and talent. Jackie Robinson was his man.” Jackie Robinson’s bravery would also lead to more opportunities for Black essentially making the MLB what it is today. In the text, “Interest Convergence Principle and the Integration of Major League Baseball” it says, “It could be argued there are positive aspects of MLB’s integration, the most apparent being that the perviously accepted racialized rules of MLB were discontinued, affording Black pl

Jalen Hurts in question for Contract extension by Eagles after stellar Super Bowl performance

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10065423-jalen-hurts-proves-hes-worth-massive-contract-extension-in-eagles-super-bowl-loss Sunday night, The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against each other in Super Bowl LV11. Jalen Hurts had a standout performance, going 27 of 38 passing for 304 yards and a touchdown while tieing the Super Bowl record with three rushing touchdowns. He also passed Steve McNair’s record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in the Super Bowl. Although the Eagles did end up losing the Super Bowl, Hurts still performed well. As Bleacher Report states throughout this news story, Jalen Hurts has proved that he deserves a Contract extension. We see this specifically with his Super Bowl performance. Hurts accounted for all o the Eagles touchdowns, which says a lot. He also continues to show growth as we see an increase in his numbers over the years. With this all being said, I do agree with bleacher report on Jalen Hurts being deserving of

Kyrie Irving traded to the Mavericks

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10040603-report-kyrie-irving-traded-to-mavericks-from-nets-for-spencer-dinwiddie-picks-more  The news of Kyrie Irving being traded to the Mavericks is a game- changing trade for the NBA. In this news it was reported that Kyrie Irving was traded to the Mavericks from the Nets for Spencer Dinwiddle, some draft picks and more. Kyrie Irving is a top 25 player in the NBA which makes this trade significant. Many teams were after Kyrie Irving, with the Nets being determined to make a deal. With Kyrie now being traded to the Mavericks, he will be playing alongside Luka Donic, another star player, which makes this trade even more significant.I believe that this will be a good move for the Mavericks presently and in the future. Kyrie Irving and Luka Donic have very similar play styles, which should go well together. As Bleacher Report said in their story, adding Kyrie to their roster makes the Mavs well — positioned  to fight for an NBA Finals appearance. Th

Hitting in The “Carter”

The Carter is the indoor facility for sports here at Williams Baptist. In the Carter it is where we, the baseball team, have hitting groups and do other baseball related things. As players this is where we often go to put in extra work as well. Even though the Carter isn't the best compared to other schools' facilities, as an athlete at Williams you eventually learn to be thankful for it. In high school, I didn't have the privilege of an indoor facility so that is what makes me cherish the Carter even more.  I tend to make a lot of good memories in this place with my teammates and, that is something good that I can take away from it.  Hitting in the Carter Tuesday was good for me and something that I needed. With doing this I was able to make some adjustments to my swing and get a good amount of work in overall. It was good to be around teammates as well.  I personally have spent a lot of hours in the Carter and hitting in the Carter is starting to becom
